The patron saint of Marchena, Saint Sebastian the Martyr, made his processional outing on the day of his feast, January 20th, departing from the parish church that bears his name. He was accompanied by a large representation of various brotherhoods, religious associations, and even the Roman century of the Lord of Humility, as Saint Sebastian was a Roman soldier who secretly helped Christians. This led to his condemnation to death: he was tied to a tree and shot with a rain of arrows, an ordeal he survived after being left for dead. Saint Irene cared for him, and once he had recovered, Saint Sebastian sought out the Roman emperor who had condemned him, reproached him for all his injustices, and this time he was truly put to death.
The musical accompaniment was provided by the Dulce Nombre de Jesús Musical Association of Marchena.
