Feel the magic of fantasy, the epic and the majestic, mystical and spiritual awe.

Holy Thursday in Marchena: The “Dulce Nombre” Procession 2025

The first of the two Holy Thursday processions in Marchena is that of the Dulce Nombre de Jesús (“Sweet Name of Jesus”) and María Santísima de la Piedad (“Most Holy Mary of Mercy”). It features an allegorical figure representing Jesus as a child. The brotherhood was literally founded by a group of children; the earliest preserved rule book, dated 1599, celebrated its 425th anniversary in 2024.

This year, the procession returned to an ancient route that had been abandoned for many decades, passing through the San Juan neighborhood (“Saint John”), the Plaza de las Siete Revueltas (“Square of the Seven Turns”), and the Casa del Ave María (“House of the Hail Mary”).

Accompanying the sweet Child Jesus is the band Dulce Nombre de Jesús (“Sweet Name of Jesus”), while the Villa de Marchena (“Town of Marchena”) Musical Band plays for the Virgin of Mercy.

I recommend watching the video in 4K (Click the gear icon and select 2160p quality).
