Miss Universe 2021 in Jerusalem, Nazareth and Arab Mosques

I must confess, as in a guilty pleasure -although for many it is no surprise-, that I have a special weakness for the Miss Universe platform. I have been following it very closely for a few years and to a certain extent it is part of me.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the last edition, celebrated in December 2021, held in Israel, with visits to biblical places such as Jerusalem and Nazareth, as well as Islamic areas and mosques.

There is a part at the end of each edition of the contest, called the “final look” in which the three finalists walk the runway in evening gown with some famous pop music singer, moments before knowing the winner.

In this latest edition, held in Israel, instead of pop music, three Israeli singers sing Leonard Cohen’s song ‘Hallelujah’ (meaning ‘Praise God‘) in English -Harel Skaat and Narkis-, Arabic -Valerie Hamaty- and Hebrew -Harel Skaat.

It’s a performance that moves me every time I see it.

Morocco has participated for the first time in 40 years.

Spain’s representant mother is from Morocco:

My favorite: France.
