Brave man is not that who doesn’t feel afraid but this who conquers that fear.
When you are worrying about something, just ask yourself: what’s the worst outcome? what’s the worst that could happen? what’s the worst thing that could happen if everything goes wrong? If the thing that worries you does actually happen, is it so tragic? are you gonna die? is it the end of the world? … or do you just accept it and go on?
We use to exaggerate the outcome of events that in the end of the day they are not so awful. Because even if it becomes a bit uncomfortable, is it so tragic? will that nuisance be with you 24 hours everyday for the rest of your life, or will you forget it in two days and it will not be relevant anymore?
Fear is a natural response of our body. Without fear, we would cross the street without looking, leave the door of our house open or jump from the top floor. Fear is an emotion needed for our survival.
But it also hinders us. It makes us fear things that are not really real dangers. It makes us imagine a worse situation than it really will be. It daunts us in our comfort zone, in which we are safe but in which nothing ever happens.
WHAT TO DO WHEN WE ARE AFRAID?
If we are blocked by something that is not a danger to us, what we have to do is to act, to face what is scary. Brave is not he who is not afraid, but he who acts in spite of being afraid. The situations that scare us are in our heads, because even if what we fear does actually happen, life goes on. If you fall, you just have to get up. What is the worst thing that can happen to you?
