The Three Kings Parade of Marchena took place on January 6, since it rained on the 5th. This led to an increase in the number of spectators coming from neighboring towns where their parades did take place on the 5th.
With the JK Fitness batucada at the front, Bedouins and a brass band organized by members of various local musical bands and associations, the parade—made up of nine floats this year—made its way through the streets of Marchena, making a stop at the Milagrosa street nursing home along the way.
The floats that made up this year’s parade were as follows:
- The Star Float: formed by the group of friends of Zaida Roldán.
- The Nativity Scene Float: by Tony Andrade’s club called “El Cuarto Rey Mago” (The Fourth Wise Man).
- King Melchior’s Float: portrayed by Antonio Frías (the churros vendor from La Carmela, and a long-time collaborator in the preparation of the parade).
- The Kung Fu Panda Float: a group of friends from the Andalucía neighborhood.
- The Alice in Wonderland Float: a group of friends from the Home Help Service.
- King Gaspar’s Float: portrayed by Isaac Cruz, a well-known flamenco singer.
- The Harry Potter Float: a group of friends from Santa Isabel.
- The Narnia Float: a group of friends from Aperitivos Matarile, snacks factory.
- King Balthazar’s Float: portrayed by Eric Calvin, a football player born in Cameroon and a resident of Marchena for many years, representing the immigrant community and becoming the first Black King Balthazar in the history of the parade in Marchena.
In the video, the section featuring the Nativity Scene float is missing at the beginning segment, as for some reason it was not recorded on the memory card.
