The passion is felt as we advance in this first Holy Week since the pandemic began, and our beloved Holy Thursday arrives with the long-awaited passage of the “child” Dulce Nombre de Jesús.
Based in the parish of San Sebastián, the brotherhood of Dulce Nombre de Jesús and Nuestra Señora de la Piedad (Sweet Name of Jesus and Our Lady of Piety), a brotherhood founded in the sixteenth century and which has more than 1,500 brothers and sisters, sees the light of the streets of Marchena at 7:30 p.m. before a crowd of people eager to see the child and the sweetness of La Piedad escorted by the Roman Guard and respective musical bands.
The carving of the child, placed on a baroque pine cone on the float, is dressed for the occasion in a dark crimson tunic and a wig with ringlets, a crown of thorns and a silver cross from the eighteenth century.
